With sites strategically located throughout the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our team in East Kilbride.
In this role you will be responsible for providing Food Technology expertise to the site senior management team. You will also provide an effective Food Safety Plan and Quality Management Systems that enable the site to produce safe, legal and authentic products that meet Scotbeef’s and our customers’ standards and expectations. You will drive continuous improvement that reduces non-conformance and complaints, whilst also supporting cost reduction initiatives.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the site’s Technical, Quality Assurance and Hygiene teams ensuring they have the skills, resources, and capability to deliver their objectives.
- Monitoring and reporting on the site’s Technical and Quality KPIs, driving continuous improvement.
- Lead Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) & TACCP programmes.
- Provide an effective Food Safety Plan and Quality Management System that, when followed, meets the requirements of the law, accreditation bodies and our customers.
- Support the site operational team to consistently deliver the operational standards to meet the objectives and outcomes of the Food Safety Plan and QMS.
- Provide food technology training as appropriate.
- Responsibility for managing the engagement of customers’ technical teams.
- Responsibility for managing regulatory contact involving knowledge of food hygiene and standards legislation.
- Responsibility for managing third-party accreditation requirements.
- Working closely with the site innovation, operations, and planning teams to deliver successful EPD, NPD and the introduction of new equipment, raw materials, and packaging materials.
- Support the HR team to deliver the requirements of the ETI base code.
To be considered for this role you should have the following skills/experience:
- Food Science degree or equivalent.
- Level 4 HACCP
- Level 4 Food Safety
- Lead Auditor
- TACCP/VACCP trained.
- Train the trainer
- Thermal Processing.
- Sensory Assessment.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a food safety management role.
- High Care/Chilled/Frozen Food experience.
- Experience working to high profile customer standards.
- Experience dealing with technologists, auditors and risk assessments.
- Incident Management experience.
- Allergen/Free From experience.
- Vulnerability/Integrity experience.
- BRC experience.
- Engineering systems/Commissioning experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good numeracy skills.
